The Surface family had almost given up hope finding a builder that could
interpret their vision and make it a reality. The small u-shaped kitchen
had limited counter space, was dark and not suited for entertaining.
The new kitchen needed to complement the adjacent space, creating a “great
room.”
A complete overhaul was needed which meant demolishing the existing kitchen
to make room for their dream. To achieve this, the J-Mar team relocated
doors and windows, which had the added benefit of making the enclosed
screen porch more accessible. A custom raised island top was created
using salvaged Douglas fir for the taller surface, and granite for the
work surface.
The newly remodeled kitchen combined with the dining and living room
now offers an unparalleled space for family and large gatherings.
